About Dan
For more than thirty-five years, I have been serving as a pastor, leader, mentor, and guide to those who are seeking to live more fully and authentically. My journey has taken me into the worlds of theology, community leadership, and organizational development, and also into the wilder and more mysterious terrain of the human soul. Through this journey, I have realized that the deep longing many of us feel cannot be satisfied with information, quick fixes, or surface-level spirituality. We need transformation. We need to reawaken to our True Selves, to the voice of the Sacred, and to our belonging in the natural world.
My academic path began with graduate study at Fuller and Princeton Theological Seminaries, with a year of biblical studies at the University of Edinburgh. My doctoral research at the University of Kansas focused on leadership, and I have a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Seminary in cultivating imagination. I have also completed post-doctoral work with Fr. Richard Rohr at the Center for Action and Contemplation. Over the years, I have sought wisdom not only in classrooms and books, but in circles of prayer, in wilderness wanderings, and in conversations around the fire.
In addition to my work as a pastor, I am a member of the Animas Valley Institute Guide Guild and trained extensively under the guidance of Dr. Bill Plotkin. I currently sit on the Curricula Council for Illuman, helping create a year-long online cohort for men called Howl at the Moon, and guiding The Deep Masculine Journey—a rigorous, nine-month mentoring program in self-healing and wholeness.
As a writer, I have sought to share some of what I have learned through my books. Finding Your Wild is an invitation to reawaken your deepest wholeness and discover the untamed life of the soul, while Being Here: Mindfulness and the Practice of Presence explores how ancient spiritual practices can root us in the sacredness of everyday life.
I carry all of these experiences into my work with individuals, communities, and organizations. Whether it is through one-on-one mentoring, guiding retreats in the wilderness, or speaking to congregations and conferences, I want to help others find the courage to answer their authentic calling. At the heart of it all is a belief that we are each invited into an ongoing love affair with the world, and that in rewilding ourselves, we participate in the healing of our culture and the earth.
One cannot do this work alone. It requires companions, guides, and community. That is why I invite you to step into this circle. Join the online community where seekers, dreamers, and leaders walk together, share stories, and hold space for one another’s growth. Here, you will find encouragement, resources, and connection for the journey of the soul.
