Mentoring & Spiritual Direction

At certain points in our lives, we reach thresholds we cannot cross alone. We sense that something within us longs for expression, healing, or renewal, but we can’t quite name it or know where it might lead. At other times, we feel stuck in old patterns, unable to find the way forward, or disconnected from our sense of joy. These are the moments when mentoring and spiritual direction can help.

Mentoring is about walking together into the mystery of your soul and listening deeply to what is stirring there. It is not about fixing problems or offering easy answers. So, as your mentor and guide, my role is not to provide a map but to walk beside you with curiosity, compassion, and experience. Together we look at the “edges” of your life—the places where you feel longing, resistance, or restlessness—and we explore what the soul might be asking of you.

A Nature-Based Approach

My mentoring work is shaped by decades of pastoral leadership and advanced training in nature-based soulcraft through the Animas Valley Institute. This approach invites us to see the natural world not as a backdrop to our lives but as an active participant in our growth. The land mirrors our inner life and reveals truths we might never discover in ordinary conversation. Solo time in nature, council practice, and ceremony become part of the process of listening for your authentic calling.

Dreamwork as Soulwork

Another central practice in mentoring is dreamwork. During the day, our minds may be too preoccupied with immediate tasks to listen to soul. But when you sleep at night, your waking ego stops talking, and your soul takes its turn to speak uninterrupted through images, emotions, and symbols. In dream tending, we go beyond quick interpretations and treat dreams as invitations into mystery and healing. As Jeremy Taylor once said, “No dream comes to tell us what we already know.”

Exploring the False and True Self

In life, we spend much of our energy protecting ourselves through the strategies of the False Self—patterns of avoidance, perfectionism, or defensiveness that keep us safe but small. Mentoring creates space to recognize these patterns, honor the ways they have served us, and then gently move beyond them into the expansiveness of the True Self. This process often involves shadow work, grief work, and the exploration of wounds we have carried for years. As difficult as it may feel, it also brings profound renewal, authenticity, and freedom.

A Journey, Not a Quick Fix

Spiritual direction is a journey that unfolds over time, over multiple conversations. That is why I offer packages of multiple sessions, allowing us to go deeper into the work and creating a container where growth can truly take root. Each person’s journey is unique, but the goal is the same: to awaken to your authentic self and to bring your gifts more fully into the world.
