Each of us carries wounds—places in our lives shaped by loss, shame, grief, or unmet longing. Too often, we spend years trying to hide these wounds, fix them, or outgrow them. But what if the very places we’ve learned to protect are also the gateways to our deepest gifts?
Sacred Wounds and Superpowers is a five-day immersive retreat inviting participants to explore the profound relationship between our wounds and our innate strengths. Guided by Rev. Dr. Dan Dolquist, this experience weaves together nature-based soulwork, contemplative practice, storytelling, and community to help participants encounter their lives with greater honesty, compassion, and courage.
Set in the quiet beauty of Rustic Creek Ranch in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies, this gathering offers a spacious and supportive container for inner work. Through time in nature, shared council, guided reflection, and ritual, participants will explore how wounds are not merely obstacles to overcome, but sacred thresholds that can awaken creativity, resilience, and authentic power.
Drawing from the wisdom traditions of Christianity, the work of Bill Plotkin and the Animas Valley Institute, and decades of pastoral and mentoring experience, Dan will guide participants in practices that include:
Exploring core wounds and the protective patterns that grow around them
Discovering how wounds often shape our unique “superpowers” and callings
Nature as mirror for inner healing and self-discovery
Council and mirroring for deep listening and communal insight
Storytelling and ritual as tools for integration and meaning-making
Time for solitude, journaling, and embodied reflection
This retreat is not about self-improvement or fixing what is broken. It is about listening more deeply to what has been asking for our attention all along. It is about reclaiming the parts of ourselves that have been exiled, and allowing them to become sources of wisdom, strength, and service in the world.
Sacred Wounds and Superpowers is open to those who feel called to honest inner work, whether they are in a season of transition, healing, leadership, or quiet discernment. No prior experience with retreats or soulwork is required—only a willingness to show up with curiosity and care.
Space is intentionally limited to preserve depth, intimacy, and safety within the group.
If you sense that your wounds may be holding more than pain—if you suspect they may also be carrying medicine—this gathering may be an invitation worth answering.
